June 7, 2016, A bomb explosion has rocked the central Istanbul district of Vezneciler near a busy bus stop killing at least 11 civilians and leaving 36 others injured.
State-run Anadolu Agency reports indicate that a car parked with explosives was detonated using remote control targeting a police bus.
The explosion happened during the busy morning hours in the densely populated district. After the explosion, gunshots were heard in the area of the blast.
The target area is a commercial hub, has Istanbul University and also host key tourist sites the Grand Bazaar.
Turkey has suffered spate of bombings this year including two attacks that targeted tourist areas of Istanbul claimed by Daesh. Two car bombings also struck the capital in an attack claimed by a Kurdish militant group.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility but Kurdish militants, Daesh terrorists and radical leftists have all staged attacks in Turkey recently.
