Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has criticized European Union (EU) over cutting AMISOM funding.
Erdogan who is on a tour East Africa nations, Uganda and Kenya warned that EU’s decision to cut funding for African Union troops in Somalia was a mistake that is likely to affect the soldiers morale as well force mission.
Last month UPDF which is part of AMISOM said it would review its operations in Somalia after EU which has been paying soldiers allowances announced it’s 20 percent cut on funding AMISOM.
Turkish government has invested over $100 in reconstruction of Somalia after nearly the country’s two decades of civil war.
The two governments signed three agreements after the bilateral talks including tourism, removing Turkish visa requirements for Ugandans with diplomatic passports and Defence industry. Memorandum of Understanding on military cooperation, higher education and energy were also signed.
