Death toll in a jihadist attack has risen to 10 with around 40 others reportedly wounded in a deadly assault on the Central Ambassador Hotel in Somali’s capital Mogadishu.
The 10 people killed in a car bomb and gun fire on Wednesday 1st June 2016 included two lawmakers.
Central Ambassador Hotel is a popular joint frequented by government personnel and foreigners thus making it a prime target of the Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen (HSM) movement.
Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility of the attack.
The blast happened at around 5.40 pm. Report by a security source indicate that the jihadist used a VBIED (Vehicle-borne improvised explosive device). After the car blast, other Shebab terrorists followed with gun fire inside the hotel.
The attack come barely a day after the Al Qaeda-linked terrorist group lost a top figure, Mohamed Kuno, alias Dulyadayn or Shekh Mahamad responsible for Kenya's Garissa University massacre was killed alongside three other Shebab fighters in a special offices operation conducted outside Kismayu (AMISOM Sector 2 under Kenya Defense Forces).
