Sunday 15th May 2016, Turkish airlines resumed direct flights to Mogadishu Somalia.
The airline had cancelled its daily Mogadishu-bound flights in February 03, 2016 after a Daallao airline passenger plane made an emergency landing due to a blast which opened a gaping hole on the plane.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility of the airline bomb blast that left at least one person killed and two others wounded.
Sunday 8.00 a.m. Turkish airlines plane with 30 passengers landed at the Mogadishu airport. High ranking officials from Somali government lauded the Turkish airlines resuming the flights become the first international airline to resume international flights to and from Mogadishu.
Security in Mogadishu has made significant improvement.
