
Thursday 12th May 2016, Joint Base Andrews, the designated military air base and home of the U.S. president plane, Air Force One was placed on lockdown briefly after a woman claimed was wearing a bomb.
At about 5.15 p.m. a woman walked in the Visitor Control Center on Joint Base Andrews and threatened to have a bomb strapped to her chest.
Within a span of minutes emergency responders arrived and the woman was apprehended, team drawn from Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) determined no explosive device was o-scene.
Emergency team continued to securing the area and residents and personnel were told to avoid the area.
Joint Base Andrews is about 15 miles southeast of Washington DC, the airport used by the president of the United States, secretary of state and other senior officials and visiting dignitaries.
