Monday 9th May 2016 U.S. extended state of emergency in violence stricken Central African Republic (CAR).
CAP has been grappling with endless unrests across the country prompting UN to deploy nearly 11,000 peacekeepers since 2014 to maintain fragile peace Islamic Seleka rebels and Christian militias.
"The national emergency declared in Executive Order 13667 of May 12, 2014, with respect to the Central African Republic is to continue in effect beyond May 12, 2016," Obama stated.
President Obama noted that CAR has been caught up in sectarian tension, widespread violence and use of minors as child soldiers in conflicts.
