BRUSSELS ATTACKS March 25, 2016
Following Brussels terrorist attacks earlier in the week that targeted an international airport and metro train, EU countries vows to deepen join intelligence gathering and sharing.
EU will also push swift measures to share airline passenger information in order to step up fight against terrorism.
The resolve comes two days after the Brussels suicide bombings that left more than 30 people killed and about 260 others injured.
EU meeting comes amid growing criticism on Belgian authorities over security lapses. More evidence links between the Paris attacks in November 2015 and Tuesday’s Brussels bombing.
The perpetrators of the Brussels attack are linked to Salah Abdesalam the mastermind of the Paris who was arrested by Belgian police.
Three terror suspects have been identified while authorities are tracking the fourth believed to be on the run after his vest failed to detonate.
Brothers Khalid and Ibrahim El Bakraoui, two of the three identified suicide bomber had criminal records but no known jihadist ties.
Islamic State (IS) terrorist group has claimed responsibility for both attacks.
