Morocco authorities have confirmed that they arrested nine militants linked to Islamic State in Libya.
Islamic State expanded foothold in Libyan city of Sirte and now they are trying to infiltrate in the neighbouring countries.
Morocco authorities says they dismantled as suspected IS militant cell on Thursday arresting nine men believed were plotting attacks in North African countries.
According to a statement from Interior Ministry, the cell was operating in the city of Marrakesh, the coastal town of Sidi Bennour and in Smara, which neighbors territory of Western Sahara.
Hundreds of jihadists from Morocco approximated at 1,500 are believed to be fighting for Islamic State terrorist group.
Libyan IS wing has become a major draw for jihadist from other Magreb states like Tunisia and Algeria.
Jihadist group has taken advantage of security chaos as well as power vacuum in Libya thus establishing a base and operational training camps over the city of Sirte.
About 220 Moroccan linked to IS militant group have returned home and been jailed while 286 have been killed in battle.
