March 24, 2016: Nigerian military said that it has rescued 180 hostages mostly women and children said to have been under Boko Haram captivity for months.
During the rescue operation at least 5 terrorists were killed in a dangerous shootout a cache of weapons and explosives were recovered kin the operation dubbed Operation Lafiya Dole in Mafa Local Government Area.
Elsewhere, police in Taraba have confirmed the arrest of 2 Boko Haram kingpins who are among the 100 most wanted Boko Haram terrorists.
Abdulmumuni Abdullahi and Ali Audu alais Dungu were arrested from their hideouts in Gassol Bali local government areas of Taraba State. The two were arrested by the police following credible human intelligence gathered following the circulation of their pictures as armed and dangerous.
The two kingpins have been handed over to the Nigerian Army in Yobe state for further interrogations and eventual prosecution.
