After Pentagon confirmed to have killed over 150 Al-Shabaab militants in drone strike at a training camp, unfolding reports indicate the Somali based jihadist group suffered huge blows after it was learnt that several top commanders who had attended the graduation ceremony were among the killed.
A Somali official says senior commanders of the outlawed jihadist group perished from the U.S. drone strike at Raso training camp in Hiiraan region, central Somalia.
The district commissioner of Bulo-Burte Abdiaziz Durow confirmed the death of the head of defence for Al-Shabaab terrorist group, Sheikh Abukar Ali Aden.
Also killed in the raid include Yusuf Ali Ugas, Al-Shabaab governor who was in charge of Hiiraan region and Mohamed Mire, a high-ranking militant leader who were attending a closing ceremony for new Al-Shabaab recruits trained in Raso camp
Al-Shabaab military spokesman Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Musab on Tuesday 9th March 2016 confirmed that their training camp was hit but refrained from giving out the number of casualties, claiming that U.S. exaggerated the number.
