Latest military reports from Somalia indicate SNA supported by AMISOM troops on Sunday 28th February 2016 made significant gains in Qoordhere locality of Middle Shabelle region.
Corresponding reports from local residents confirmed to the media that government forces (SNA) with AMISOM took over Qoordhere village early Sunday morning after Al-Shabaab fled after learning of the joint forces advances.
SNA and AMISOM forces raided the locality from different sides but Al-Shabaab fearing the fire power from the joint forces abandoned their base before the troops moved in Biya-Adde.
However, the raid was a success as the forces managed to destroy the Shebab base without firing a single shot. The base was torched and IEDs at the assembly process were dismantled.
The joint forces seizure comes at a time when state conference is going on for Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions.
Al-Shabaab lost key strongholds between 2012 and 2013 though the Islamist group is still persistent in waging attacks against the western-backed Federal government of Somalia and security forces present.
