Somalia National Army (SNA) Chief of Defence Forces Maj. Gen. Mohamed Adan Ahmed has vowed that SNA in collaboration with AMISOM troops will defeat Al Shabaab militants and recapture the remaining localities under their reign in 2016.
SNA chief noted that the joint military campaigns between SNA and allied AMISOM forces have significantly overpowered Al-Shabaab in Somalia.
The Al Qaeda branch in Somalia is facing pro-ISIS challenge within it faction weakening the parent group and it military capacity, SNA chief added.
The army chief said the troops are prepared to intensify and carryout final assault on the remaining Al-Shabaab strongholds.
He however noted to annihilate Al-Shabaab from their remaining controlled localities joint effort with AMISOM partners is needed more than ever. In this regards SNA chief met with AMISOM commanders on 5th January 2015 to strategize and strengthen working relations.
The chief retaliated SNA and AMISOM commitment to strengthening the partnership citing the two forces are of the same goal of root out Al-Shabaab menace and ensuring peace is achieved in Somalia.
