3rd January 2016, Latest military reports from Somalia indicate that SNA along with African Union forces jointly carried out a major security sweep in the southern port city of Barawe on Saturday.
Confirming about the operation, Barawe’s deputy commissioner Bashir Mohamed Yusuf, said the locality still harbours Al Shabaab elements even after falling to control of SNA and AMISOM on October 5, 2014.
Dozens arrested suspects held at Barawe police station for interrogation where innocent ones will be freed and guilty will face justice, Bashir added.
The joint forces have intensified military operations aimed at flushing out remnant elements of the Al Qaeda affiliated fighters at the seaside city of Barawe that was once served as a stronghold for the militants before SNA and AU forces seized it from the reign of the militants.
