Kenya has been voted World’s Leading Safari Destination in the recently concluded 22nd World Travel Awards 2015 in Morocco. Kenya had previously won the prestigious award in 2013.
The win for Kenya; signifies the confidence in the tourism industry and security in the country is slowly restoring and boosting the country’s ranking in the global scene as a lead tourist destination.
Kenya bagged the award after ferociously competing against other major destinations like South Africa, Botswana, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Kenya Tourism Board won Africa’s leading tourist board especially for its efforts of rebranding the country’s image on the global scene collaborating the East Africa’s government’s effort to maintain and ensure security of both the citizenry and the tourist visiting.
Other notable awards for Kenya include;
- Twiga Tours— was voted the world’s leading luxury Safari Company as well as world’s responsible tourism award.
- Kenya Airways- Africa’s leading airline in business class
- Mombasa Port- Africa’s leading cruise port
- Maasai Mara Game Reserve- Africa’s leading national park
- Diani- Africa’s leading beach destination award
- Olanana Sanctuary – Africa’s leading eco-lodge
The awards won by Kenya gives the country’s industry a huge boost which has suffered major setbacks owing to attacks by the Somali-based al Qaeda affiliate.
The Kenyan government has invested heavily to robust the industry which is a major contributor to the economy by intensifying the war against al Shabaab and rebuilding global confidence in the country’s security system.
