AMISOM troops responsible for sector 4 were visited by AMISOM force commander Commander Lt. Gen Jonathan Rono at their Belet Weyne headquarters.
The Thursday visit was a morale booster for the soldiers fighting Al Shabaab militancy.
The force commander also wanted get first-hand account on what is happening on the ground.
Lt. Gen Jonathan Rono was briefed by sector 4 military leadership on key successes of the sector as well as handles that exist and future plans on the peacekeeping mandate.
Djiboutian forces are in charge of Sector 4 which covers Hiiraan and Galgaduud regions.
The troops recently captured and liberated the towns of Masaas, Ceel buur, Maqakoor, Guricel, Halgen, Ceel Ali among other several villages.
As a result of these successes, new administrative posts have been established in Ceel buur, Muqakoor and Halgen.
While briefeing the Force Commander, sector 4 Commander Col. Abdourahman Abdi Dhembil,said Al Shabaab continues to pose a major threat to Somali people citing the militants heinous acts of assassination of community leaders, forcibly taxing the citizens as worse denying them basic and social services.
Al Shabaab insurgents have put the region into isolation indicating lack of infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, roads and access to clean safe water.
Djibouti troops in Belet Weyne work hand in hand with Somalia National Army in securing the region. With their support military camps such as Lamagalay was reconstructed.
AMISOM Force Commander Lt. Gen Jonathan Rono lauded the troops for their dedication and hard work and reaffirmed AMISOM’s commitment to root out Hiiran, Galgadud regions and the entire country, off all terrorist elements.
