Somali Minister Extends Amnesty To Surrendering Al Shabaab Leaders

Federal Government of Somalia’s Minister for Information and Tourism, Mohamed Abdi Xayir Mareeye on Monday 7^th September extended call of amnesty to al Shabaab leaders were they to surrender to the government.

Mareeye was speaking at the close of a cultural show which his ministry has been coordination to bring the people together and revive the cultural diversity that has been wrecked by the insurgents.

Minister for Information and Tourism in Somalia, Mohamed Abdi Xayir Mareeye on Monday extended a call of amnesty to al Shabaab leaders asking them to surrender to the authorities. The minister said that all the leaders of al Shabaab would be given amnesty the only condition was that they surrender to the FGS and a full official amnesty would be granted.

Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahedeen’s current spokesman Sheikh Ali Dhere was top of the leaders urged to abandon ship and surrender to the government.

The minister spoke at the close of a cultural show conducted by his ministry in a bid to promote the heritage of the Somali people, bringing people together and at the same time help preserve the cultural diversity that was at risk of diminishing owing to the insurgents and war in the country.

Additionally, he called upon the youth to relinquish their ties with the militants and instead join the government, gets jobs and a chance at a better life at the same time save themselves from the war waged against the terrorists.

This warning and invite to join the government is a clear indication that the FGS security forces in conjunction with AMISOM troops are planning a major operation on the terrorist to counter their seemingly reenergized strategy and operations.
