Early Thursday 6th August 2015, Mogadishu security operations in collaboration with AMISOM troops conducts a major sweep in Mogadishu’s Hodan neighborhood and nabs up-to 100 youths suspected to be of Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen Movement.
The youths were picked after intelligence was gathered indicating attacks being planned in the area by the members of the Al Shabaab.
The security officers conducted door to door searches in the area, hand picking youths. The nabbed suspects were transferred Somali Criminal Investigation Department under tight guard.
According to NISA officials, the operation was launched after the intelligence gathered indicated of an imminent threat of an attack.
The militants allegedly had also shipped in improvised explosives (IEDs) to a house in Zoona-K area of the Hodan district.

Al Shabaab militants continue to pose a major threat to the stability of Somalia and their goal is to overthrow the interim governments. Al Shabaab is an official affiliate of the Al Qaeda terrorist group with home base operations in Somalia.
In the recent weeks the militants group has suffered a series of blows from AMISOM troops who have managed to capture several of their strategic locations such as Bardheere and Dinsoor.
In Hiiran, Elbuur, and in Dalandoole regions AMISOM aerial bombardments have killed dozens and scores left with serious injuries. Al Shabaab operational camps in these areas have been overran repulsing the Mujahideen fighters.
The Head of AMISOM says at least 300 Al Shabaab militants were killed in newly launched military offensive in Somalia.
