Kenya Security agencies have circulated photos of suspected Al Shabaab plotters of an attack possibly to be orchestrated before Ramadhan period ends.
The government has warned of the planned Al Shabaab attack and called on the members of the public to remain extra vigilant in crowded bus-terminus, busy traffic, popular bars and nightclubs, churches, and government security installations as they are likely to be targeted.
The militants are among the terrorists who survived the recent foiled Baure, Lamu attack on a military camp. The attack claimed 5 KDF soldiers while 11 Al Shabaab fighters were slain by the army. Four other Al Shabaab terrorists were killed while on the run.
A statement by security and intelligence service called on Kenyan people to provide any helpful information that may lead to the capture of some of the fugitives who are still on the run.
The police listed profiles of nine, six wanted and three slain jihadists. They include;
- Mbarak Abi Huka, a Borana,born and raised in Marsabit. Attended primary school in Marsabit and then joined Somali based Al Shabaab in 2011. Believed to have a hand in the 4th June 2014 Mpeketoni attacks in Lamu. He is also believed to have recruited young men and women from Moyale and Marsabit
- Ibrahim Magag, This is believed to be a brother to the slain Briton involved in terror attacks in Lamu killed in Baure alongside Briton Thomas Evans. Intelligence reports that Magag was born in Somalia and migrated to UK. He was involved in funding the Al Shabaab group through Hawala money transfer system. Also belied to be an associate of notorious ISIS killer Jihadi John,” identified as Briton Mohammed Emwazi.
- Abdalla Suleiman Makhtum, Believed to be highly involved in radicalizing of young people in Mombasa and in south Coast. Before joining Al Shabaab, he taught Madrassa lessons at Masjid Tawba in Mtongwe area. Suspected to have a hand in assassinations of moderate Sheikhs at the Coast.
- Omar (one name provided) is the brother to late Hassan Omondi Owiti, alias Budalangi an Al Shabaab operative involved in attacks in Nairobi in 2012. He was killed by police at a fierce gunfight in Githurai, Nairobi in May 2013. His brothers grew up in Nairobi and are also believed to have been radicalized at Pumwani Riyadha Mosque.
- Salim Jamal Mwangi, He is Kikuyu convert to Islam. Associated closely with Musa Mosque in Mombasa where an Al Shabaab flag was once hoisted on its roof during indoctrination of youths. Also a close associate of Ramadhan Kufungwa. Arrested in 2013 for inciting youths to violence. Both fled to Somalia and joined Al Shabaab jihadist group in 2014.
- Rama Mbwana Mbega a Digo from South Coast. Suspected to have joined the Harakat Al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen Movement, al-Qaeda’s branch in Somalia in 2011. He is also believed to have associates in South Coast and in Nairobi who have in the past harboured him.
Profiles of slain terrorists while on the run after the Baure Lamu attack;
- Jumaane Salim Ashur Lived in Mlaleo area within Kisauni before joning the Somali base jihadist group, the Al Shabaab. His associate was a terror convict Swale Abdalla Said. He finished Secondary school at Aldina Visram at around 2011. He is related to Mafudh family of Malindi linked to terrorist activities.
- Abdikadir Rehan alias Fiki, born in Majengo Mombasa. Believed to have traveled to Somalia in June 2014 prior to Mpeketoni attack. He was injured while fighting but managed to hide and recovered, then returned to Somalia in 2015. He took part in the Baure, Lamu attack.
- Amar, A Kikuyu born, convert to Islam. Raised in Nairobi before traveling to Somalia to join Al Shabaab terrorist group. He was killed in Baure attack.
