Security Heightened in Kenya’s Capital as Muslims Mark Ramadan with Prayers & Charity

Security personnel in Kenya have promised tight grip on security for Muslim believers all over the country who are marking the holy month of Ramadan.

Consequently, the government and other security agents have put in place a number of measures to ensure that the whole period of Ramadan goes on un-interrupted by security issues. These include

• All Mosques in Kenya remain under tight round the clock surveillance. These include the now highly flocked Jamia Masjid, Kenya’s largest mosque, located in Nairobi’s central business district (CBD).
• The government has also lifted curfews in predominantly-Muslim areas. The Muslim community is grateful that the government has decided to remove the curfews, as they would have disrupted the Ramadan schedule.

• Muslims attending nighttime prayers can be sure of tight security owing to tight night patrols.

Muslim clerics on their part have promised to work hand in hand with the government and security forces to face out radicalization.
