The Somali National Army capability to defeat the terror group Harakat Shabaab al-Mujahideen Movement is being questioned by regional defense intelligence services
SNA has lost soldiers and plentiful of powerful weaponry to the terror group fighters. The terrorists continue to exhibit resilience, and superiority against the army.
Army bases secured by AMISOM and handed over to the SNA are vulnerable to attacks. Some have been easily breached and soldiers killed.
Losing sophisticated weaponry to an enemy with better skills, adaptability, tactical capability, and resilience is a threat to the Somali security.
The ramifications of these events will be catastrophic. The terror group will reinvent its strategy using those weapons. The army will not be able to outdo an equally well armed enemy.
Every operation by SNA to liberate a captured area must be backed up by an AMISOM troops. We are now detecting the red herring prints.
The possibility of defeating the Harakat Shabaab al-Mujahideen Movement in Somalia is not possible if the Somali National Army capability to independently conduct and win counter militancy operations aren’t successful.
SNA must be a capable and reliable military that can protect Somalia from external and internal enemies, particularly Al Shabaab militants.
