Kenya has put in place a series of measures to boost its tourism sector which is the country’s largest earner.
Currently, through Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), the tourism sector under the support of the Kenyan government is running a number of initiatives within Africa that are aimed to draw tourists from South Africa and other tourists from other countries around the world.
But this year’s special focus by the Kenya tourism sector is South Africa.
The tourism sector on Tuesday launched a three-month campaign to search for six top selling companies within South Africa to chip in immensely and help Kenya’s largest earner to thrive.
Kenya earns more than Sh80 billion in terms of foreign earnings from foreign tourists who visit the country every year.

The sector confirmed that the campaign is geared at enticing the South African Travel Trade to ‘Choose Kenya’ as a first option for their clients.
The campaign was branded with the theme ‘Choose Kenya’, and through it, KTB is calling on all travel trade in South Africa to sell the destination and win a luxury Educational Trip.
The top companies will win luxury trip to Kenya, which will culminate into the 5th edition of the Magical Kenya Travel EXPO (MKTE) to be held in Diani, in October, 2015.
The traders will send their confirmed bookings into a micro site with selections of the winners being based on the highest sales recorded.
The tourism sector in Kenya has in the recent past experienced challenges that accrued to terrorist attacks especially those that targeted the Kenyan coast but with the increased government measures geared towards improving security standards, the sector is expected to regain its glory.
The government is also encouraging local tourists to invest more in traveling and enjoying Kenya’s beautiful sceneries and in so doing, boost the country’s tourism sector.
