On 25th of May 2015, 9 Members of the Somalia based terrorists Harakat Al Shabaab Al Mujahideen special unit and Amniyaat (intelligence wing) were killed in a commando raid conducted by Kenya Special Forces.
The group was providing militia advise to terror cells in Dhoobley besides facilitating logistics.
Kenya’s Directorate of Military Intelligence DMI, reports shows the cells were highly trained intelligence and military advisers working for the terrorists. They were guerrilla warfare experts and highly knowledgeable of the geography of the Kenya-Somali border region very well.
They have been entering and getting out of Kenya to provide guidance to terror cells in Boni forest and along the refugee camps towards Garissa to train and command small terror cells in the border region.
Kenya Special Forces destroyed their safe-house at Hawina area of Dhobley in Somalia after intelligence services conducted surveillance and reconnaissance.
The destruction of this terror cell is a blow to Al Shabaab operatives inside Kenyan Boni forest and the terror group.
Most of the cells have been cut-off from their parent militia by units of the Kenya Army.
Special Forces and National Intelligence Service experts have been conducting operations against the terror group along the border to stymie influx and exodus of terror cells.
