ISCAP terrorists in DR. Congo attacked villages in Ituri province in a continued violent campaign by the group in recent weeks. The attack in Ituri province is the first in a couple of weeks as most recent attacks have been concentrated in Beni territory in North Kivu Province.
At least people were killed by the ADF jihadists in Belou, a locality located about 16km from Tchabi centre in the south of the Irumu Territory. The victims were either beheaded or shot dead by the militants and were ambushed in their homes. As the group has been doing in Beni territory, several other people were kidnapped in Ngundugudu and are yet to be found.

The attack comes just as the residents had started returning to their homes from the IDP camps where they had escaped to after the last violent incursion by the ADF in Irumu. ISCAP has been seemingly stepping its attacks in the northeastern region of DRC and appears to have amerced more fighters and built its capability to create a great threat in the two provinces. Historically, the parent rebel group for ISCAP locally known as ADF has been active in North Kivu for the past two decades and expansion into Ituri which is also battling with CODECO militia and other rebel groups. The frequency of attacks especially into Ituri is an indicator that the group ought to be met with greater forces and the military and UN mission need to revise the CT strategies in order to defeat and permanently quash the expansion of the group.
