Six terrorists belonging to the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed during the operation conducted by Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
Among the dead was Muhammad Suhaib of Sargodha, a most wanted terrorist.
Intelligence information say the militants were gathering to attack a sensitive installation.
A statement said, eight to nine people on three motorcycles appeared coming from Shadiwal and opened fire when the CTD personnel asked them to stop the set up a picket on Upper Jhelum. The CTD personnel returned fire, killing six terrorists on the spot. Three others escaped.
The statement identified the dead as Muhammad Suhaib, Abdul Muqeem, Muhammad Faisal Nisar, Muhammad Usman of Sargodha, Abdul Azeem and Rauf Ahmad of Muzaffargarh.
