4 Somali soldiers were injured by a directional Improvised Explosive Device (IED) as they conducted mop-up operations along the Bar-Sanguni – Musa Haji-Kobon route. The military personel were hit by a directional explosive at Musa Haji area, about 3.6 kilometers from Bar-Sanguuni, a strategic village town south of the port city of Kismayu.
4 Soldiers were critically injured. SNA troops were ambushed by combatants of the Al-Shabaab terror group. A juvenile was critically injured in the crossfire but was rescued by military personnel.
The Somali army withdrew from Kobon village mid-afternoon after intelligence reports warned of increased movement of enemy combatants towards the town.
