At least 343 Boko Haram militants have been killed in 6-week military operations in Nigeria’s northeast region, Defense Headquarters confirmed on May 6, 2020.
The defense source highlighted that the operations conducted between March 18 and May 5 involved airstrikes and ground combat operations.
The statement further noted a number of key commanders and hundreds of fighters have been killed in the operations while scores have suffered fatal gun wounds.
Among other successes recorded during the military operations, most of the Boko Haram’s logistics installations and networks were destroyed, while 16 of their informants and logistics suppliers were arrested within the period, the statement added.
Some Nigerian soldiers also died and others wounded in action, added the statement.
