At least 30 militants have been killed as part of the ongoing security operations that started last week in the restive Sinai Peninsula.
According to the Egyptian military statement issued on Wednesday 25/4/2018, three security officers were martyred during the clash with the militants linked to the Islamic State (ISIL) in one of their hideout in the North Sinai city of Arish.
Two police personnel were also injured in the clashes, during which 17 militants were killed, the statement said.
Also killed is Nasser Abu Zaqoul, the deputy leader of the ISIL-linked Welayet Sinai group.
According separately, Egyptian forces killed eight militants during raids conducted in north and central Sinai.
Security forces also rounded up 173 suspected militants in north and central Sinai over the past week, the statement added.
