At least 21 al-Shabaab militants have been killed in Somalia’s southern region of Lower Shabelle. The airstrikes by conducted AMISOM troops deployed in the country to fight the al Qaeda affiliated Islamist terror group.
The first airstrike targeted the al-Shabaab base in the town of Mubarak, Lower Shabelle region, killing at least 21 militants, including foreign fighters. The airstrike also wounded 37 fighters while the second airstrike hit another militant camp in the town of Janale.
In a fresh military thrust, backed by both ground and air capabilities, the troops have been targeting al Shabaab camps in the region as well as retaliating for recent twin SVBIED attack on SNA military camp. The airstrikes are further aggressive offensive against al Shabaab who have been getting reinforcements from branches in Hiiraan.
