At least 20 ISIS militants operating out of the restive region of northern Sinai region in Egypt have been killed by airstrikes. Officials said that Egypt’s air force on Friday hit more than 100 mountainous hideouts of militant groups in the city of El-Arish and the small town of Bir Al-Abd.
Egyptian forces announced that the airstrikes conduced against the insurgents in the Sinai region were in response to various attacks claimed by the Daesh. The airstrikes come on the heels of a suicide bombing attack that left two killed, including a soldier and a civilian last week in the northern Sinai town of Sheikh Zuweid.
Intelligence reports indicate that a good number of Daesh militants sought haven in the mountainous region of Sinai in Egypt and as such there are constant airstrike campaigns to ensure that the global terror organization doesn’t regroup in Northern Africa.
