At least 20 ISIS militants have been killed during an operation in Darz Ab district of the northern Jawzjan province. Security officers conducted the overnight operation in the province where six villages were cleared in the offensive.
Residents of the villages confirmed severe fighting was underway on the outskirts of the district center, and fighter jets were hovering over the area.
The fighters have been attempting to establish cells in Afghanistan following the severe overrun of their camps in both Iraq and Syria.
