Fighting continues to be report in northern Juba South Sudan with Machar’s spokesperson saying the armed opposition faction People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM-IO), said forces loyal to President Salva Kiir have been defeated in all fronts around Juba.
Two senior South Sudan armed opposition military generals say they are in contact with Riek Machar who was recently replaced from government.
Riek Machar who went into hiding after violence erupted between forces loyal to president Kiir and his forces in Juba has since been replaced by his former chief negotiator Taban Deng Gai, a move the armed opposition leader described as ‘illegal’ and ‘unacceptable’.
Maj. Gen Liah Diu, a senior military officer with the armed opposition, told Sudan Tribune publication that he still remains loyal to Machar saying that he is still in contact with his commander in chief Dr. Riek Machar.
Maj. Gen Diu has warned those who wishing to defect to Kiir’s faction like Taban Deng are great enemies of the movement.
