2 Most Wanted Al Shabaab Suspects Arrested In Mombasa; Explosives Recovered

explosives15th January 2015: Kenya Security Officers on Friday arrested two of the ‘MOST WANTED’ terror suspects in Mombasa. The two were part of an al Shabaab cell that has been operating in Mombasa- Majengo area where a cache of weapons was seized in January.

Mohammed Kombo and Mohammed Salim Mohammed the suspects arrested were in possession a cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives-making materials with intention to create improvised Explosive Devices for attacks in the coastal counties.

The police said that the two are among a gang of 6 terrorists who snuck into the country from Somalia to plot attacks in the coastal regions especially Lamu and Mombasa Counties. Intelligence indicates that the two are among a larger cell that has been responsible for attacks in Lamu mainly targeted at the security forces.

Security agencies in Kenya in collaboration with public and the Nyumba Kumi initiative have been able to gather intelligence on terror suspects and suspicious people in the past year with the high vigilance exhibited by the public helping nab terrorist and thwarting would be deadly attacks.
