Two al Shabaab members of Kenyan decent were publicly executed al Shabaab, an organization they had sworn allegiance to in Qunyo Barrow town in Somalia. The two were identified as Hassan Mohammed Yussuf and Mohamed Mohamed Hassan both hailing from Marsabit.
Both young men were executed for allegedly spying for the Kenyan government and offering information to government forces. The two join the growing number of foreign fighters killed brutally by the al Shabaab for either spying or technical betraying the purported jihadi agenda and beliefs.
The public execution has been defined as the most brutal yet seeing as they were both hacked with machetes and daggers, unlike the usual firing squad. Eyewitnesses said that the militants used public address systems to round up the residents and forced them to watch the execution.
