Somali forces have gunned down two suspected Al-Shabaab assassins in Bakaro Market of the Somali capital Mogadishu. According to eyewitnesses, the suspects were shot dead by officers from National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
The two were in a group of four al Shabaab gunmen looking to launch an attack in Mogadishu before they were pursued by the NISA officers. They are believed to belong to an al Shabaab terror cell affiliated to ISIS targeting security officers. The officers arrested the other two militants and are being interrogated to reveal the layer of the terror cell targeting security officers in Somalia’s capital
Somali security forces have been conducting operations to secure the city in the last two days. The incident comes less than 24 hours after a young man armed with a pistol killed a police officer in Bakaro Market. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by ISIS-affiliated faction of al Shabaab who later posted graphics of the killing on Facebook.
