At least 15 al Shabaab terrorists were killed have the insurgents attempted to take over a military camp near the port city of Kismayo. At least 5 soldiers were also killed in the attack earlier in the week.
The attack occurred in the line with the mode of operation of al Shabaab when attacking government and AMISOM camps. The attack began when a suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden car into the entrance of the base, and then it was followed by heavily armed militants from different directions. Residents of the town of Jamame, 70 kilometers (44 miles) away from Kismayu, said they heard the blast, followed by gunfire.
The troops were able to repel the attack killing the fifteen and driving the rest out of the camp where they have since been conducting operations to neutralize the escaped terrorists.
