Military reports from Somalia indicate that Somali Special Forces killed 15 Al-Shabaab fighters during a raid in a militant –held town in central Somalia.
According to an army official, the overnight commando raid in a small village of El-Timir, Galgaduud region targeted a secret Al-Shabaab military camp from which officials learnt was used to train suicide bombers before launching attacks in the country.
U.S. operation forces have been training Somali Special Forces in conducting covert operations and unverified reports indicate that they were involved in the militant raid.
The commando raid happened at around 11.00 PM l Monday night and the target was on an Al-Shabaab training camp located 15 kilometers away from Gal’ad.
15 militants including high value middle level commanders were killed in the operation.
Gala’ad administrator Qadar Mohamud Ali the Somali confirmed about the raid saying commandos swooped into the area in a covert operation and engaged a deadly gunfire with Al shabaab fighters that led to the deaths of the combatants.
