Algeria on Sunday 17th April 2016 reported to have killed 14 armed militants.
During the raid counter-terrorism operation, a large load of war arsenal was discovered in the country’s southeastern province of El Oued.
Defence Ministry in a statement confirmed the killing of 14 terrorists and retrieving a large consignment of arms and ammunition in a remote area in El Oued province. Detectives last month also had also discovered loads of weapons in locality of Kouinine.
Another bunker found on Friday 15th April 2016 contained 127 war weapons of various types. Large quantities of ammunition of different calibers including 21 militants’ communication gadgets were also recovered.
The seized arsenal is believed to be smuggled from violence-ridden Libya after the fall of former which is also grappling with ISIS militancy due to power vacuum.
Algeria has been deploying more troops on the troubled eastern borderline to prevent crossing over of arms and militants from neighbouring Tunisia and war-torn Libya.
Algeria also has heightened it security following intelligence reports that revealed that foreign terrorist groups were plotting to send their militants to Algeria to carry out attacks.
