Latest military reports from the horn of Africa nation indicate that 13 Al-Shabaab militants were killed and several others wounded following military security operations in Lower Shabelle region of Somalia.
Reports from Somali military owned radio confirmed that Somali elite forces launched coordinated operations against Al-Shabaab fighters in Leego locality on Monday evening.
The operations prompted clashes between the government forces and militants from the Al-Qaeda aligned Al-Shabaab. The military radio reported that the forces defeated the militants and seized a number of their small arms.

- Al- Shabaab’s head of intelligence resigns from group. The head of Al-Shabaab’s Amniyat (intelligence), Muse Moalim Mu’awiye, resigned from the group, according to the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).

- Al-Shabaab has claimed Mortar Attack on Largest Military Base of African Forces in “Green Zone” Halane, Mogadishu, Somalia.
- Al-Shabaab has claimed two IEDs targeting SNA at Checkpoints in Yaqshid and Hudan in Mogadishu, Somalia.
- Al-Shabaab has claimed assassination of Jarsoor Deputy Mayor “And al-Rahman Nour Jari” in Galkayo City, Mudug region of Somalia.
Despite these concerted military operations against Al-Shabaab in different regions of Somalia, the militant group remains resilient and still controls a number of villages besides being able to conduct deadly ambushes, assaults, assassinations and planting land mines targeting security forces.
