Turkish Army Kills 22 ISIL Terrorists in Syria

n_99780_1Operation Euphrates Shield continues to register successes with 22 ISIL terrorists being killed on the 72nd day of the Operation.

According to The Turkish General Staff, the clashes with the militants also saw 11 fighters from Syrian opposition forces also injured.

Turkish military source also said 100 ISIL and 4 PKK/PYD targets were destroyed, including Islamist extremist shelters, defensive positions and command-and-control centers.

Operation Euphrates Shield was launched in late August in a renewed effort to clear Syria's northern border area of extremists.

Operation Euphrates Shield has seen both ISIL and PKK/PYD extremist groups targeted by the opposition Free Syrian Army plus Turkish tanks, artillery and aircraft.

The PKK and its Syrian offshoot, the PYD, are both listed as extremist groups by Turkey, although the U.S. and EU only view the PKK as a terror organization.
