Nigerian Military Foil Attack On A Dikwa IDP Camp; Recovered High-Tech Equipment Killing 26 Boko Haram Militants


February 25, 2016; Nigeria’s troops have a foiled a massive Boko Haram attack in an Internally Displaced Peoples’ camp in Dikwa northeastern Nigeria. Dikwa has been the target of numerous attacks in February in their new wave of attacks by the militants.

The militants were however dealt serious blows after they were decisively attacked by the military that killed 26 jihadists, seized a cache of weapons and ammunition.

Anti-aircraft guns, assault rifles and explosives were among the weapons recovered in the clash as the troops pursued the escaped wounded militants.

Dikwa has become a major target for the militants due to the proximity to its birthplace, Maiduguri which is on 50 miles away. Additionally, they are targeting IDPs seeing as reports have indicated that Nigerians in the northeastern area prefer to live in the camps tan to live at home and be terrorized by the militants.
