The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) remains the most potent weapon against the Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia, Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen Movement (HSM), a rag tag militia that recruits criminals, children, and youths to pursue an ideology and political goal that has plundered Somalia for a decade.
KDF has consistently held ground in Southern Somalia forcing the militants to retreat further deep into the Central areas. This consistent loss of strategic ground to the army has HSM outwitted.
KDF has been sending scouting parties and surveillance resources to Jiliib, the last fortress of the terror group. Jiliib is where the Shura council and the terror group commanders operate from.
If Jiliib falls, Al-Shabaab will be done for keeps. They'll move north to Galgaala mountains in Puntalnd. That's closer to Ethiopia where they'll face a resounding defeat.
A Slow seige is developing and HSM is worried. Just like the fall of Afmadow and Kismayo, KDF has Jilib on its crosshairs, and it must fall too. There will be nowhere to run for the ragged enemy.
