GSU Officers In Mokowe, Lamu Thwart Al-Shabaab Attack On Their Camp

GSU officers at the Mokowe Camp, Lamu County deterred an imminent attack on their camp by Shebab militants. The terrorists were spotted as they attempted to gain entry into the camp at 0100hrs a few hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s address in the county. The police officers held and overpowered the militants in a 20-minute gunfire exchange.

According to intelligence sources, the militants retreated to the bushes after suffering several casualties. No casualties were reported on the GSU side.

All security agencies in the county are on high alert especially at night where a curfew is in full effect.
