Following an ambush on AMISOMs-UPDF convoy by Al-Shabaab between Golweyn and Bulo Marer district, an intensified operation was carried out with 48 Al-Shabaab suspected being apprehended from the Lower Shabelle operation.
In an intelligence led-operation, Army soldiers drawn from AMISOM and SNA conducted through searches in administration district of Barawe in Lower Shabelle region where several suspects of Al-Shabaab were rounded-up.
Confirming on the operation, the district commissioner of Barawe district Mr. Aden Omar Madobe speaking to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA) said that the number of the suspects is 48, and they all suspected that they have links with Al-Shabaab terrorists.
The district commissioner further added that the operation was part of series of operations meant to secure the district and its surrounding localities.
