Ten Al-Shabaab suspects were arrested in a joint operation conducted by Somali Police and Security forces in Kismaayo town, in lower Jubba region, Southern Somalia.
According to security sources in Somalia, security forces following on intelligence lead conducted an operation in the town wiping out suspected Al-Shabaab operatives hiding inside Kismaayo and waging attacks on government and AMISOM forces.
The security sweep was carried out jointly by police and NISA forces. It began last night and concluded, Tuesday morning.
Security officials said the suspects who are being held in custody will be debriefed with a view to getting more information on their future terror attacks.
The Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab has lost key towns in the south and central Somalia in the past years, but still carries out deadly VBIED attacks in the main towns including the capital of Somalia-Mogadishu.
