U.S President Donald Trump’s administration will send a delegation to Juba this week tasked to assess dialogue process to end war and bring peace to the troubled east African nation.
The U.S delegation will meet South Sudan’s key government officials including President Salva Kiir to assess and understand the circumstances under which the national dialogue was declared and whether it’s inclusive.
An insight from a top level South Sudanese diplomat reveal that the purpose of U.S intervention is to see how best the big brother could work with the government, support the national dialogue that was started by President Salva Kiir in December 2016.
“The new US administration is for peace, they are not for regime change as it is being propagated by some quarters of our society," diplomat who requested anonymity was quoted saying.
The three-member delegation from U.S expected to arrive Thursday 23/2/2017 in South Sudanese capital, Juba.
The South Sudanese diplomat welcomed the visit saying it demonstrate the willingness of the new administration of the United States towards South Sudan.
