Turkish warplanes conducted fresh bombardments against Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) positions in northern Iraq and southeastern Turkey.
The air raids carried on Wednesday morning, completely destroyed PKK militants’ dens and weapon caches in the areas.
According to security sources, the warplanes (jets) struck PKK targets near the Turkish town of Lice, in Diyarbakir Province, and Semdinli, in Hakkari Province.
Iraqi government and the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) have frequently opposed Turkey’s bombardments on Iraqi’s territory.
Ankara has conducted a large-scale campaigns against PKK positions on its southern border region in the past few months.
The Turkish military has been conducting offensives against the positions of the militant group in northern Iraq as well.
On June 11, Turkish military campaigns left 13 PKK militants killed in Lice bombing. A number of militants were also injured in the raids.
Turkey’s military campaigns against PKK began in the wake of a deadly July 2015 bombing in the southern town of Suruc.
A shaky ceasefire between Ankara and the PKK that had stood since 2013 was declared null and void by the militants following the Turkish strikes against the group.
