28th December 2015, about 20 people have been killed in a mosque bombing in northern Nigerian city of Maiduguri.
The Bombing believed to have been orchestrated by Boko Haram insurgents killed about 20 and left 90 others nursing wounds.
The bomb explosion came a day after the Nigerian army engaged in a fierce battle with Boko Haram militants in west of Maiduguri, capital of Borno state.
Maiduguri is a key locality for Boko Haram insurgents and the outfit fighters want to establish an Islamic State camp. Boko Haram also pledged loyalty to the Middle East jihadist group, the Islamic State.
Though there was no immediate claim of responsibility such attacks are linked to the Boko Haram, whose insurgency has killed thousands and displaced some 2.1 million people in the region.
Boko Haram which usually engages Nigeria army in guerrilla kind of attacks has since reverted to a strategy of hitting soft targets such as markets, bus stations and places of worship but also conduct sporadic hit-and-run attacks on villages, mainly in Borno state.
