South Sudan’s warring parties have leveled accusations against each other over ceasefire violations in Leer County Unity State.
South Sudanese rebels have accused the government forces of attacking their positions on November 8th killing at least 19 people among them women and children. These accusations were vehemently denied by the government who said the rebel attacked Leer County which is under the government forces.

The South Sudanese rebels accuse the government forces of attacking their positions in several areas just outside Leer town on November 8th where at least 19 people were killed among them women and children. Other accusations leveled against the government forces were a series of abductions of women, looting civilian property as well as burning citizen’s house.
The South Sudan Army Spokesman Philip Aguer denied the claims saying the rebels attacked Leer which is under the government forces. Both sides have on many occasions been accused of violating the peace deal aimed at ending the bloody violence in South Sudan.
Despite the accusations, the leadership of South Sudan has expressed commitment to honoring the deal to prevent further bloodshed and have continually urged their follow to exercise high degrees of restraint thus let reconciliation and healing of the ethnically-torn nation to take course. They have also started implementing the provisions of the peace deal.
