Abdullahi Gafow Mohamud who has been acting spy chief for National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has been confirmed the spy agency new boss after serving for two months in acting capacity.
In a statement from the cabinet, the new spy master is expected to spearhead the intelligence agency citing his appoint at the helm of the spy agency comes at time Mogadishu has witnessed a spate of security lapses.
Mohamud replaces Abdirahman Mohamed Tuurayre who was fired following the recent Ambassador hotel deadly suicide attack which left 30 killed among them two MPs and NISA officers.
His appointment also key, and comes a time Somalia heading to the polls in August and security remains one of the critical issues to ensure a peaceful and safe polls exercise.
