A senior Al-Qaeda leader n FBI’s most want terrorist list, Abu Muhsin al-Masri, was killed in Afghan security forces operation.
According to Afghan intelligence, Al-Masri, who was an Egyptian national was believed to be Al-Qaeda’s second-in-command. Hewas killed during a special operation in the central Ghazni province, Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security (NDS) announced late on Saturday.
Al-Masri alias Husam Abd-al-Ra’uf, has been on FBI’s most wanted terrorist list and has also been charged in the US for providing material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization with intention to kill US citizens. The US issued a warrant of his arrest in December 2018.
According to the head of the US National Counter-Terrorism Center, Chris Miller while confirming the death of al-Masri in a statement underscored that his removal from the battlefield is a huge setback to the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization

The death of al-Masri was announced on the same day that 18 people were killed in a suicide bombing at an education centre in the Afghan capital, Kabul and at least 57 others were wounded in the attack in the area that is home to many from Afghanistan’s minority Shia community.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack and the Taliban denied any link.
